Is Quito safe?
Volunteers are given cautions by the directors in Quito during orientation. If one takes proper precautions and heeds the recommendations given, one remains safe. Our project is in the capital city where the danger is no greater than in a large American city.

What type of clothing should I bring?
Volunteers may dress casually. They are expected to wear clothing that is modest, appropriate and professional in manner.

Can I go home for the holidays?
Volunteers are expected to give one year of uninterrupted service. The holidays at the WBC are very special and many times the highlight of a volunteer’s experience. We expect all volunteers to participate in holiday festivities at the WBC and therefore, returning to one’s home country is not permitted.

What is the weather like?
Quito’s is a unique city located on the equator and at an altitude of 9,252 feet (2,820 M.) Most days are mild and nights are cool. Temperatures range from 55 degrees F (7 C) at night to 78 F (26 C) at noon. The climate remains consistent throughout the year, however, does see more rain from October to May

What is the volunteer housing like?
The volunteer house is very modern and comfortable. All year long volunteers have their own bedroom and attached bathroom.
