The health program stresses integral family health care daily, with emphasis on prevention and promotion of healthy habits.
The health team consists of 4 medical doctors, 4 dentists, 4 nurses, 1 medical technician, all coordinated by a competent public health doctor. They work in these areas:
Medical Department
The medical department attends, on an average 7000 patients annually. 97.42% of them are attended to in our own facilities and only 2.58% of the patients are referred because of more complicated problems. The main tasks of the medical department are to strengthen preventative programs, educate families about health care, periodic checkups of healthy children and adolescents, pre-natal and postnatal care, update medical information and achieve interinstitutional contacts and agreements.
We also have a clinical laboratory which does basic health exams.
Dental Department
This department has three main targets:
- Oral hygiene and care
- Cavity prevention
- Early dental attention for children under six, school-aged children and adolescents.
The dental department attends to 2640 patients a year.
Program for Special Needs Children
This program is directed by an educational psychologist, with the help of an assistant, a physical therapist and the mothers of the children, who collaborate in their care, health and hygiene. THE FINE ART OF BAKING
Franklin Rey, WBC Graduate 1998
“I joined the Center with my mother and my 5 brothers and sisters in 1979. Although I was a teenager, in many ways I was the “father” of the family. What did the Center do for me? A great deal. Here in the Center I was educated, grew as an integral person, and came to understand the importance of Moral Values which are being lost in our society. In the Center I met my wife, who is my right arm, and the light of my life, with whom I have two beautiful children. The Center gave me the opportunity to study and graduate in the art of baking.
Today I work in the “Modern Bakery Group” as a department head and Commercial Evaluator of product development. I travel throughout Ecuador and South America and share my knowledge acquired in the Working Boys' Center.”
